No. 4 Women's Swimming and Diving takes down TCU on Senior Day

AUSTIN, Texas – No. 4 Texas led from start-to-finish and put away a 167-120 victory over TCU Friday evening on Senior Day at UT's Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Texas kicked off the meet with freshman Joanna Evans' convincing win in the 1,650-yard freestyle at 16 minutes, 20.09 seconds. The Longhorns posted a one-two finish in the next event, the 200 medley relay, where the quartet of juniors Rebecca Baxley and Madisyn Cox teamed with sophomore Sam Sutton and junior Brynne Wong to win at 1:43.70.
Texas posted the top-four finishers in the one-meter diving event. Senior Meghan Houston, who was recognized prior to the meet with diver Kristina Hoffmann and swimmer Erin Yeager, took the win with 338.25 points while freshman Meghan O'Brien took second with 324.83 points. Freshman Sofia Rauzi placed third at 296.03 and Hoffmann placed fourth at 292.28. O'Brien later claimed the three-meter diving event with 337.35 points, while Houston took second at 327.45.
All-America junior Tasija Karosas led a one-two-three Texas finish in the 200 freestyle at 1:49.41 and returned minutes later to win the 100 backstroke at 54.09. Freshman Olivia Anderson led a similar Texas finish in the 100 breaststroke and came away with the win at 1:01.56.
Cox and Baxley paced the Horns in the 200 butterfly with their first- and second-place marks of 2:00.99 and 2:06.06. Sophomore Mimi Schneider posted an impressive mid-season time on her way to victory in the 50 freestyle at 22.51. Sutton added a second-place mark of 23.30. Freshman Nora McCullagh completed the sprint sweep for Texas with her winning mark of 50.70 in the 100 freestyle.
Cox completed an impressive double on short rest and claimed the 200 backstroke at 1:57.93. Sophomore Bethany Leap captured the 200 breaststroke at 2:19.37 before senior Erin Yeager capped her final home meet by winning the 500 freestyle at 5:03.88.
Junior Brynne Wong claimed the 100 butterfly at 54.85 while freshman Quinn Carrozza added a second-place mark of 55.39. Freshman Joanna Evans pulled away to victory in the 400 IM at 4:20.89.
The Longhorns closed the meet by winning the 200 freestyle relay, as freshman Brooke Hansen joined Sutton and freshman Remedy Rule and Nora McCullagh to win in
Texas hosts the Big 12 Championships from Feb. 24-27 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
