No. 23/22 Men's Basketball records 62-50 win at Oklahoma State

Roach has all of his team-high 15 points in second half as Longhorns reach 20-win mark for 16th time in last 17 years.
STILLWATER, Okla. – Freshman guard Kerwin Roach Jr. scored all of his team-high 15 points in the second half to lead No. 23/22 Texas to a 62-50 win against Oklahoma State on Friday night. Trailing 48-46 with 7:44 remaining, the Longhorns finished the game on a 16-2 run to reach the 20-win mark for the 16th time in the last 17 years.
Junior guard Isaiah Taylor also finished in double figures for the Longhorns (20-11, 11-7 Big 12), adding 12 points and three assists in the win. Junior forward Shaquille Cleare recorded eight points and a career-high eight rebounds in the victory. Oklahoma State (12-19, 3-15 Big 12) was led by Leyton Hammonds, who finished with a game-high 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting and six rebounds.
The Longhorns fell behind early in the first half but a jumper from Javan Felix cut the Cowboys' lead to 16-13 at the 12:11 mark. Texas later held Oklahoma State scoreless over a stretch of 4:08 to claw back to within a single point (18-17) with 9:14 remaining.
Texas took a 22-21 lead at the 6:33 mark after Demarcus Holland completed a three-point play. Oklahoma State tied the score at 29-29 following a jumper from Hammonds with seven seconds left, and the score stayed even entering halftime.
After Taylor opened the second half with a layup, Roach scored the team's next six points to give the Longhorns a 37-34 lead at the 15:51 mark. Oklahoma State answered with a 5-0 spurt, but a Tevin Mack 3-pointer put Texas back ahead 40-39 with 14:19 remaining. Both teams were scoreless over the next 2:56 until a Tyree Griffin free throw tied the score at 40-40 with 11:23 left.
Trailing 48-46 at the 7:44 mark following another Hammonds jumper, Texas responded with a Taylor jumper, a Taylor layup and a Roach layup to grab a 52-48 cushion with 4:32 remaining. A Chris Olivier layup at the 4:11 mark trimmed the margin to 54-50, but that would be the final points scored by the Cowboys. From there, the Longhorns scored the final 10 points of the contest.
Texas begins postseason play at the 2016 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship on Thursday, March 10, in Kansas City, Mo. Texas will begin play in the quarterfinal round against an opponent to be determined.

Texas (20-11) reached the 20-win plateau for the 16th time in the last 17 years. The Longhorns have now reached the 20-win mark a total of 31 times in their 110 seasons of basketball.
UT swept the regular-season series against Oklahoma State for the first time since 2010-11. Texas defeated Oklahoma State 74-69 in Austin earlier this year (Jan. 16). The Horns have won 14 of the last 21 meetings against the Cowboys.
Texas posted a 5-5 mark in true road contests this season.
