Anderson earns third bid for NCAA Championships

All-America junior diver Mark Anderson earns berths to compete on all three boards at the NCAA Championships.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas All-America junior diver Mark Anderson handily clinched his third berth of the week for the 2016 NCAA Championships by way of his win on platform Wednesday afternoon at the NCAA Zone "D" Diving Meet.
A two-time All-American on platform, Anderson distanced himself from the rest of the field during the 18-diver platform final and won the event with 812.30 points.
Anderson needed only a top-12 finish in the platform contest to earn an NCAA Championships berth on platform given his top-five finishes during the one-meter and three-meter competitions at the Zone meet.
The 2015 Big 12 Men's Diver of the Year held a slim lead over Minnesota's Matt Barnard through the preliminary round and pulled away in the final to win by over 40 points.
Anderson joins UT senior diver Cory Bowersox, Texas junior diver Sean O'Brien and 17 Texas swimmers as qualifiers for the 2016 NCAA Championships set for March 23-26 in Atlanta.
