Volleyball falls to Rice in spring game, 3-1

Junior Ebony Nwanebu led the Horns with 15 kills and six service aces.
AUSTIN, Texas – Austin, Texas – Texas Volleyball fell short in a 3-1 battle (25-18, 26-28, 24-26, 23-25) to Rice for its second spring game at Gregory Gym on Friday night.
Three Longhorns finished with double-digit kills, with junior Ebony Nwanebu leading the Horns with 15. Two Longhorns also finished with double digit digs.
Nwanebu finished the night with six service aces and led the team in scoring with 21.5 points.
Junior Chiaka Ogbogu had 11 kills, also tallying a team-high five blocks with sophomore Mirta Baselovic.
Junior Paulina Prieto Cerame had 10 kills, leading Texas with a .500 hitting percentage.
Sophomore Cat McCoy and freshman Micaya White led the defense end with 11 digs each.
Chelsea Harris led Rice with 17 kills and 2 blocks for the Owls.
The Horns will be back in action at the Collegiate Showcase for their last tournament of the spring on April 23 in Dallas, Texas.
