Longhorn Foundation launches membership challenge

The Longhorn Foundation Membership Challenge seeks to drive involvement throughout the Lone Star State.
Every year, our coaches work tirelessly to recruit the best talent from all across the state of Texas. Indeed, Texas Longhorns student-athletes are from your hometowns, representing the Lone Star State from the panhandle all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.
As Texans, we share a common bond, a strong sense of community that unites us all. In Texas, independence is matched by neighborly care. By banding together and working with one another, Texas is truly greater than the sum of all its parts.
This summer, the Longhorn Foundation wants to show the world what Texans can do together. The Longhorn Foundation Membership Challenge seeks to drive involvement throughout the state, generating growth with online and social media engagement. Donations for membership start at $50.
"The Longhorns represent the flagship institution of Texas," men's athletics director Mike Perrin says. "Let's show the rest of the country what Longhorn pride looks like with a bold statement of unity."
The campaign will commence with the first in a series of digital messages to current donors in the all regions of Texas, including: West Texas, North Texas, Central Texas, East Texas, Gulf Coast and South Texas.
By tapping into regional pride, and creating a spirit of collegial competition, the Longhorn Foundation seeks to find passionate fans and show them the value of membership. Current donors are charged to share the Texas Athletics story with friends, family, colleagues and neighbors, and thus help build our donor bases.
"We are hoping that we can turn our fans into invested donors and turn our invested donors into active advocates for our student-athletes," Perrin says.
Just as Texas coaches hit the recruiting trail to bring the best and brightest to Texas, the Longhorn Foundation is asking burnt orange faithful to also beat the bushes to identify future Longhorn Foundation members.
"We are excited to launch the Longhorn Foundation Membership Challenge. For those of you who are already donors, please refer your friends and family to join the Longhorn Foundation for as little as $50. This is a way for Longhorn fans to really be invested in the performance of our student-athletes," said Amy Folan, executive senior associate athletics director for the Longhorn Foundation.
"Last year we reached 15,000 total members, breaking the previous record of 13,000. We hope to continue to break records and reach 16,000 members or more this year."
