Ridley named to Chicago Bulls summer league team

Former Longhorn center begins Summer League schedule on July 9 in Las Vegas.
CHICAGO — Former University of Texas basketball standout Cameron Ridley has been named to the Chicago Bulls Samsung NBA Summer League roster. The 11-day showcase of top young NBA talent will run from Friday, July 8 through Monday, July 18 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
In his four years in Austin, Ridley played in 115 games (96 starts) and averaged 8.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 21.4 minutes per contest. He concluded his career ranked No. 3 on the UT career blocks list (220) and No. 10 on the school's career rebounds chart (720). Ridley reached double figures in scoring 41 times and in rebounds 26 times and posted 18 double-doubles in his career.
During his senior season in 2015-16, Ridley played in 13 games (11 starts) and led the team in rebounding (8.5 rpg) while ranking second in scoring (11.1 ppg) and blocks (37). He suffered a fractured left foot during practice on Dec. 27, had surgery on Dec. 29 and missed the next 20 games. Ridley returned to the court and played limited minutes in UT's final two contests of the season. Prior to suffering the injury (first 11 games), he led the team in rebounding (10.0 rpg) and blocks (3.4 bpg) and ranked second in scoring (12.7 ppg) and minutes (26.0 mpg) while converting 63.2 percent (60-95) from the floor. He set a single-game school record with 9 blocks against Appalachian State (Dec. 15).

Teams will compete in three preliminary-round games from July 8-12 before being seeded in a tournament that starts on July 13 and concludes with the Championship Game on July 18. Each team is guaranteed to play at least five games.
