Texas-Ex Miguel Reyes Varela opens doubles competition at the Olympic Games

Former Longhorn Miguel Reyes Varela will represent Mexico in the doubles competition beginning Saturday.
RIO DE JANEIRO – Texas-Ex Miguel Reyes Varela (2006-09) will make history Saturday morning when he becomes the first Longhorns men's tennis player to represent his country at the Olympic Games.
Reyes Varela, who will represent his native Mexico, opens the 32-team doubles competition with Santiago Gonzalez on Saturday at 9 a.m. CT at the Rio Olympics. The tandem will take on Dominic Inglot and Colin Fleming in the first round.
Reyes Varela and Gonzalez will take on Great Britain's Dominic Inglot and Fleming. Results will be available at Rio2016.com. Live scoring will be available here. Live streaming of select tennis action will be available at NBCOlympics.com.
A doubles All-American as a Longhorn, Reyes Varela received one of eight ITF final qualification places to compete at the Olympic Games.
