Swimming's Joanna Evans set for Rio Olympics

UT rising sophomore swimmer Joanna Evans will represent The Bahamas next week in Rio.
RIO DE JANEIRO – Texas rising sophomore Joanna Evans will represent The Bahamas in three swimming events next week at the Rio Olympics.
Evans, a Big 12 champion and Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, opens the competition on Sunday (Aug. 7) in the 400m freestyle (between 12:33-12:51 p.m. CT). Evans will compete in the 200m freestyle preliminary round on Monday (Aug. 8) and in the 800m freestyle preliminary round on Thursday (Aug. 11)
Evans earned her ticket to Rio on June 23 when she registered a FINA qualifying cut in the 800m freestyle at the Bahamian National Championships.
Evans is the 42nd Longhorns women's swimmer or diver to make an Olympic team and the first from the program to represent The Bahamas.
