No. 30 Women's Tennis posts 4-1 win at No. 39 Oklahoma

Longhorns earn first league win, return home next weekend to host Texas Tech and TCU.
NORMAN, Okla. – No. 30 Texas (7-5, 1-1 Big 12) won the doubles point and added singles wins from sophomore Petra Granic, senior Neda Koprcina and junior Dani Wagland in a 4-1 victory over No. 39 Oklahoma Sunday afternoon at OU's Headington Family Tennis Center.
Texas opened the match with a pair of doubles to lock up the doubles point. At the second slot, Koprcina teamed with freshman Anna Turati to post a 6-2 win over the Sooners' Lily Miyazaki and Simran Sethi. UT clinched the doubles point at the third slot, where freshman Bianca Turati and sophomore Katie Poluta dealt OU's Christiana Brigante and Mimi Fotopoulos a 6-2 defeat.
Freshman Petra Granic made short work of the Sooners' Malene Stripp at third singles and prevailed 6-0, 6-2 to give Texas a 2-0 lead. Koprcina dealt Fotopoulos a 6-3, 6-0 defeat at second singles to stake the Horns to a 3-0 lead.
OU responded with a straight-sets win at fifth singles, but it wouldn't be enough, as Wagland finished off the Sooners' Brigante 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 at sixth singles to seal the Longhorns' victory. The remaining courts were suspended.
Texas returns home next weekend to host Texas Tech and TCU.

Oklahoma is a vastly-improved team who plays with great passion. Our Longhorn ladies acquitted themselves very well and competed superbly. It was nice to see our doubles get some convincing wins that set the stage for a solid singles performance. We will need to be sharper come Friday for our next league encounter.
