Two Texas Exes on WNBA Opening-Day Rosters

Imani Boyette and Tiffany Jackson-Jones are on WNBA rosters to begin the 2017 season.
AUSTIN, Texas – A pair of former Texas women's basketball players are on the opening-day final 12-person rosters of WNBA teams, it was announced Friday afternoon.
Three-time Associated Press All-American Tiffany Jackson-Jones, who was the fifth overall pick of the 2007 WNBA Draft, will open her ninth WNBA season and her first as a member of the Los Angeles Sparks. Jackson-Jones holds career WNBA averages of 6.8 points per game, and 4.9 rebounds per game. She has played in 199 career regular-season WNBA games with 68 starts.
Jackson-Jones played in 123 career games at Texas with 103 starts. For the Longhorns from 2003-07 she averaged 15.6 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, 1.5 blocks per game and 2.5 steals per game.
The Los Angeles Sparks open on Saturday vs. the Seattle Storm at 4 p.m. CT on ESPN.
Imani Boyette, the 10th pick of the 2016 WNBA Draft, will begin her second WNBA season with the Chicago Sky after earning AP All-Rookie Honors last year. Boyette played in 31 games a year ago with 16 starts. She averaged 6.7 points per game, 5.6 rebounds per game and 1.3 blocks per game. She ranked seventh in the WNBA in blocks per game and 17th in rebounds per game.
Boyette (Texas, 2012-16) was the first player in UT history to reach the combined milestone of 1,000 career points, 1,000 career rebounds and 200 career blocks. She finished her decorated career 22nd on UT's all-time career scoring list (1,361 points), fifth on UT's all-time career rebounding list (1,036 rebounds) and second on UT's all-time career blocks list (303 blocks).
