Abney elected to Board of Directors for Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association

UT Assistant Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Olympic Sports selected to serve on national board.
ORLANDO, Fla. — Sandy Abney, University of Texas Assistant Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Olympic Sports, recently was elected to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa). Abney was selected for this honor during the organization's 17th annual National Conference, held May 10-12 at the Coronado Springs Convention Center in Orlando.
In her role at UT, Abney works directly with the women's swimming and rowing programs. She also oversees team scheduling of the North End Zone weight room (inside Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium), assists with the UT Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning Internship program which focuses on the development and mentoring of graduate assistant strength and conditioning coaches, and oversees purchasing and maintenance.
An 18-year veteran in the field, she previously received the prestigious title of Master Strength and Conditioning Coach in May 2013. Abney began working at UT in 1999 as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, where she oversaw the performance training of women's golf, rowing, softball and women's swimming and assisted with football.
The CSCCa was established in May 2000 to meet the specific and unique needs of collegiate strength and conditioning coaches around the country.
