Former All-American at North Carolina brings six years of coaching experience from Rice and Tulane.
AUSTIN, Texas – University of Texas head women's tennis coach Howard Joffe announced Thursday the hiring of Taylor Fogleman as an assistant coach with the Longhorns. Fogleman replaces Courtney Dolehide, who vacated her post to pursue educational and professional opportunities at Georgetown University.
"I'm so happy to welcome Taylor and his wife Lindsay to Austin and The University of Texas," Joffe said. "Taylor's inclusion in our group will be a huge boost for the Longhorns. He is a top former collegiate and professional tennis player. Unquestionably, Taylor is on track to become a head coach, given his years of experience and success at Tulane and Rice. Above all else, Taylor is the classiest person. I'm so excited for our ladies to get to meet him and work with him."
Fogleman heads to the Forty Acres after serving the last three seasons as an assistant women's tennis coach at Rice University. The Owls won the Conference USA championship and advanced to the NCAA Championships in each of Fogleman's three seasons on-staff, and he helped Rice to NCAA Championships first-round wins in 2015 and 2016. A pair of Owls earned All-America honors under Fogleman, and Rice accumulated 18 all-conference selections under Fogleman's tutelage.
"I would really like to thank Chris Plonsky and Howard Joffe for this incredible opportunity," Fogleman said. "To have the chance to work with one of the best coaches in the country in Howard at one of the best universities in the country is a dream come true. I look forward to helping the incredible student-athletes reach their maximum potential on the court and in the classroom here at UT. The future of Texas Women's Tennis is very bright!"
Fogleman served for three seasons as an assistant coach at Tulane prior to his appointment at Rice. He led the Green Wave to the NCAA Championships in 2014 and was selected as the ITA Southern Region Assistant Coach of the Year in 2013.
Fogleman played two years of professional tennis on the ATP Tour and was ranked as high as 551st in the world after completing a sterling four-year career as a collegiate tennis player at The University of North Carolina. An ITA All-American in 2008 and 2009, Fogleman advanced to the doubles quarterfinals at the 2008 NCAA Championships and the doubles semifinals at the 2009 NCAA Championships.
He ranked as high as No. 3 nationally in doubles and 30th nationally in singles while helping the Tar Heels climb as high as No. 5 in the ITA national team rankings.
Fogleman earned a bachelor's in communications from UNC in 2009. He completed work on a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Tulane in 2014.
