AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas women's golf team travels to Norman, Okla., this weekend for its second tournament of the season, as the Longhorns will participate in the Schooner Fall Classic Saturday through Monday at the Belmar Country Club.
The event at the par 71, 6,046-yard course will begin at 9:40 a.m. CT Saturday, 9:10 a.m. CT Sunday and 8:10 a.m. CT on Monday. Teams will play 18 holes each day. Live television coverage will be available for the end of Monday's final round as Fox Sports Southwest will televise the action beginning at 1 p.m. CT. The decorated tournament field includes five teams in the top-25 of the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Ratings: No. 3 Alabama, No. 10 Oklahoma, No. 11 Florida State, No. 15 Notre Dame and No. 23 Florida. Of the 15 participating schools, nine were ranked in Golfweek's Preseason Top-30 and six qualified for the 2017 NCAA Championships. This year's event marks the fourth-annual Schooner Fall Classic.
Texas is without senior Sophia Schubert (WAGR #27) and Agathe Laisne (WAGR #35) for the second consecutive tournament after the duo participated in The Evian Championship last week in Evian-les-Bains, France. The Evian Championship is one of five LPGA majors and the Longhorns had two current golfers participating in the event.
The three golfers at the top of this week's lineup – Greta Isabella Voelker, Kaitlyn Papp, and Emilee Hoffman – all posted top-25 individual finishes at the Dick McGuire Invitational, at which the Longhorns placed 10th. Voelker, the 2017 Big 12 Freshman of the Year, was 18th at the event. Papp, competing in her first collegiate event, was 20th, while Hoffman finished 25th. Junior Maddie Luitwieler and sophomore Maren Cipolla will compete in the Texas lineup for the second consecutive tournament.
