No. 12 Women's Tennis sweeps singles once more at NCTC

Texas goes 4-0 in singles at Palm Springs.
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – No. 12 Texas swept its singles session for the second time in as many days Saturday at the annual National Collegiate Tennis Classic.
Tenth-ranked sophomore Bianca Turati knocked off Stanford's 22nd-ranked Emily Arbuthnott (6-3, 7-6[5]) a day after her twin sister Anna did the same. Anna Turati kept up her winning ways and made short work of UCLA's Gabby Andrews, winning 6-3, 6-2.
First-semester freshman Fernanda Labraña of Chile won her second consecutive match, as she held off Memphis' Laura Bente, 6-3, 7-5. Freshman Bojana Markovic of Serbia capped the perfect singles session for Texas with her 7-6 (3), 6-2 win over Memphis' Anki Wind. Labraña and Anna Turati added an 8-3 win in doubles over UCLA's Kristin Wiley and Sophie Bendetti.
At the Freeman Memorial Tennis Championships in Las Vegas, UT sophomore Petra Granic chipped in a 6-3, 6-2 win over Florida's Katie Kubicz in consolation play.

The ladies definitely played a higher level of tennis today, likely the product of yesterday's tough matches. They also competed unbelievably hard and were able to win four of four singles matches once again. Fernanda Labraña competed like more of a veteran than a 72-hour enrollee at Texas. Anna Turati played with great discipline to beat a strong UCLA player and Bojana Markovic gutted out a match and saved a set point. Bianca Turati likely played the best match with a win over (Emily) Arbuthnott of Stanford. Our doubles was ordinary at best so tomorrow we definitely have some motivation to get after it."
