No. 17/17 Men's Basketball falls to Radford, 62-59

Sophomore forward Jericho Sims paced the Longhorns with a season-high 16 points and 8 rebounds.
AUSTIN, Texas — Despite a season-high 16 point, 8-rebound effort from sophomore forward Jericho Sims, the No. 17/17 Texas Basketball team (5-2) fell 62-59 to Radford (6-1) on Friday night at the Frank Erwin Center. Senior forward Dylan Osetkowski recorded a career-high 17 rebounds to go along with 9 points and tied a career high with 2 blocks.
Sophomore guard Matt Coleman III registered 9 points, while freshman forward Jaxson Hayes added 8 points and 3 blocks. Senior guard Kerwin Roach II contributed 7 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
Junior guard Elijah Mitrou-Long and Hayes provided a spark off the bench for Texas in the opening half, combining for eight points while forcing two steals that lifted the Longhorns to a 24-12 advantage at the 10:30 mark. Radford answered with a 17-1 run over the next five minutes to grab a 29-25 lead with 5:34 remaining.
UT responded with nine consecutive points in a four-minute span to take a 34-29 advantage following an Osetkowski dunk at the 1:20 mark. Radford scored the final four points of the half to trim the deficit to 34-33 at the break.
The second half featured seven lead changes in the first five minutes before a Coleman free throw tied the score at 42-42 with 14:48 left. With the game tied at 49-49 at the 10:04 mark, Radford used an 8-2 spurt to build a 57-51 lead following a Devin Hutchinson three-pointer with 4:16 remaining.
Consecutive three-point plays by Coleman and Sims tied the score at 57-57 at the 2:31 mark. A Sims dunk gave Texas a 59-58 lead with 1:02 remaining, but that would mark UT's final score of the night.
Carlik Jones converted a three-point play with 24 seconds remaining to give Radford a 61-59 advantage. After a Radford defensive stop and a free throw by Hutchinson increased the lead to three (62-59) with 11 seconds left, Texas had an opportunity to tie the score but missed a 3-pointer with three seconds left.
