No. 4 Women's Swimming and Diving sweeps opening night at Big 12 Championships

Fourth-ranked Longhorns sweep the opening two relays on night one in Austin.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 4 Texas kicked off the opening night of competition and swept both relay events Wednesday evening at the Big 12 Championships at UT's Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Texas opened the meet with its victory in the 200-yard medley relay, where sophomore Claire Adams, juniors Olivia Anderson and Mimi Schneider and senior Rebecca Millard finished in 1:36.87, good for the seventh-fastest relay all-time at Texas.
Adams led off the relay in 24.06 seconds before Anderson picked up the breaststroke leg in 27.37. Schneider split 23.91 on the butterfly leg before Millard anchored in 21.53 seconds.
Texas wrapped the evening with a victory from its 800 freestyle relay. Junior Quinn Carrozza led off in 1:45.02 before Millard split 1:44.98 on the relay's second leg. All-America junior Joanna Evans picked up the third relay leg in 1:46.30 before Adams anchored in an impressive 1:42.33.
The Horns finished in 6:58.63, good for an NCAA automatic-qualifying cut and the fifth-fastest relay in program history.
Texas leads the meet through the first of four days with 80 points. TCU, West Virginia, Kansas State and Iowa State are tied for second with 62 points.
Day two of the Big 12 Championships gets underway Thursday at 10 a.m. CT.
