No. 14 Women's Tennis shuts out No. 37 Michigan, 4-0

Longhorns win the doubles point and post three singles wins.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 14 Texas (9-4) collected the doubles point and three singles wins in a 4-0 victory over No. 37 Michigan (4-8) Sunday afternoon at Texas Tennis Center.
Texas opened the match with wins at the third and first doubles positions to lock up the doubles point. Junior Katie Poluta and sophomore Anna Turati picked up a service break midway through their contest at No. 3 and cruised to a 6-1 victory over the Wolverines' Lera Patiuk and Chiara Lommer.
Likewise at No. 1, UT's 44th-ranked tandem of sophomore Petra Granic and freshman Bojana Markovic picked up an early break on Michigan's 44th-ranked duo of Mira Ruder-Hook and Brienne Minor. Texas claimed a 6-2 win to claim the doubles point. The remaining match at No. 2 was suspended.
Freshman Marta Perez-Mur needed only about an hour to extend the Longhorns' lead, as she dealt Ruder-Hook a 6-0, 6-0 defeat at fifth singles. Anna Turati staked the Horns to a 3-0 cushion behind her 6-4, 6-0 victory over Minor at second singles.
Freshman Bojana Markovic locked up the team win for the Longhorns with her 6-2, 6-3 victory over Alyvia Jones at fourth singles. The remaining matches were suspended.
Texas kicks off Big 12 Conference play next weekend when it visits Kansas and Kansas State.

Just calling it like it is, it was an awful day for tennis. It was gloomy and the wind was oscillating between 18 and 20 miles per hour, I would think. I don't even speak to the gusts. So, that just inherently makes it a very, very difficult match to play quality tennis. I feel like we applied ourselves probably quite a bit better than Michigan today and that was, more than anything, the difference.
