Hurdler helps Longhorns win Texas Invitational
AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Pedrya Seymour rolled to a pair of victories at the Texas Invitational over the weekend to help the Longhorns dominate the meet and was recognized as the Big 12 Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week for her efforts.
Seymour's performances helped the Texas women get the team victory over conference rival Kansas State. Seymour stormed ahead of the field in the 100m hurdles to win with her time of 13.16 seconds. She pulled away from the competition with second place clocking 13.55. Seymour also ran the opening leg of UT's 4x100m relay team that won with a time of 45.56 seconds. Texas won the race easily with Seymour setting the tone on the first leg to get ahead right away and eventually finish more than half a second ahead of second place.
This is Seymour's first Big 12 Athlete of the Week honor and the first for the women's team this season as well. She will join the other hurdlers and sprinters this weekend at the LSU Alumni Gold on Saturday. The men's award went to TCU's Scotty Newton this week.
