No. 15 Men's Tennis falls to No. 32 Texas Tech, 4-3

Longhorns conclude regular season Sunday at Baylor before hosting Big 12 Championships.
LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 15 Texas (14-6, 2-2 Big 12) garnered singles wins from juniors Colin Markes and Adrian Ortiz plus sophomore Christian Sigsgaard, but No. 32 Texas Tech (19-8, 1-3 Big 12) defeated the Longhorns by a 4-3 count Thursday evening at Tech's McLeod Tennis Center.
Texas led off the doubles session with a win at the second position where junior Harrison Scott joined Sigsgaard to knock off Tech's Connor Curry and Ilgiz Valiev, 6-1. However, the Red Raiders claimed the remaining contests at the third and first positions to win the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead.
Markes evened the tally at one with his 6-2, 6-1 victory over Matheus Leite at sixth singles. Ortiz gave the Horns a 2-1 lead behind his 6-1, 6-4 win over Artem Kapshuk at fifth singles. UT led 3-1 when Sigsgaard dealt Alex Sendegeya a 6-1, 6-2 defeat at first singles.
Tech pulled within 3-2 after Curry knocked off UT's 88th-ranked Telles by a 6-3, 6-1 count at third singles. The Red Raiders' 124th-ranked Tommy Mylnikov evened the tally at three with his 6-4, 6-4 win over UT's Scott at second singles.
In the deciding match at fourth singles, Texas junior Rodrigo Banzer took the first set over Tech's Valiev in a tiebreaker, 7-2. However, Valiev rallied and claimed the ensuing two sets, 6-2, 6-0 to seal the Red Raiders' 4-3 win.
Texas concludes the regular season on Sunday at Baylor (2pm CT). The Longhorns host the Big 12 Championships next week at Texas Tennis Center.

Tough day. We had trouble executing in doubles and then struggled to finish some opportunities in singles. Texas Tech played great at the end. We need to regroup and get ready for Baylor on Sunday.
