Longhorns advance to their first Big 12 Championships final in five years.
Highlights
AUSTIN, Texas – Top-seeded Texas (21-4) took the doubles point and posted three singles wins in a 4-1 victory over fifth-seeded Baylor (16-13) Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the Big 12 Championships.
The Longhorns post their 16th straight win and reach the finals at the Big 12 Championships for the first time in five seasons. UT will meet either second-seeded Oklahoma State or third-seeded Texas Tech in Sunday's final. First serve is set for 1 p.m. CT at Texas Tennis Center.
The Longhorns claimed matches at the first and third doubles positions to lock up the doubles point and a 1-0 lead. At first doubles, the 47th-ranked tandem of sophomore Petra Granic and freshman Bojana Markovic knocked off Theresa Van Zyl and Jessica Hinojosa, 6-3. UT clinched the point at third doubles as sophomores Anna and Bianca Turati held off the Bears' Angie Shakhraichuk and Kris Sorokolet, 6-4. The remaining contest was suspended.
Granic made short work of Hinojosa at third singles and posted a 6-0, 6-1 win for a 2-0 Texas lead. Baylor responded with a victory at fifth singles, but UT senior Dani Wagland pushed the Longhorns' lead back to two points with her 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Shakhraichuk at sixth singles.
Anna Turati closed out the Longhorns' semifinal win with her 6-4, 6-0 victory over Camilla Abbate at second singles. The remaining matches were suspended.

POST-MATCH COMMENTS
Texas head coach Howard Joffe
It was a hard fought win. I was just talking to the team, and I said that if you take a look at the scoreboard, the lay person would deduce that it was a fairly routine, comfortable win. We lost only one point, one match. But anyone who watched the match knew it was very, very hard fought. The doubles point was very difficult. In the singles matches, the Turati sisters came back from big deficits. I'm very proud of the group for the mettle they showed. I feel like Baylor hit us with their best shot and we were up for the challenge today.
