Prince tallies eight points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
MEXICO CITY - Texas freshman Sedona Prince and the United States U18 Team opened play at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship with an 87-42 win against Argentina on Wednesday at Juan de la Barrera Gym in Mexico City.
Prince scored eight points, brought down a game-high nine rebounds and blocked a game-high three shots.
The United States (1-0) used a strong defensive performance that forced 30 turnovers and held Argentina (0-1) to just 22.8 percent (13-of-57) shooting from the field. On the offensive end, the USA shot 60 percent (36-of-60) from the floor.
The United States returns to action on Thursday when it takes on Chile at 2 p.m. CT. The game can be viewed online at www.YouTube.com/user/FIBAWorld.
The 2018 USA U18 Women's National Team is defending eight consecutive FIBA Americas U18 titles, a tournament in which the U.S. women have lost just twice [1992 and 1996], both times to Brazil and both loses resulted in a silver medal.
