AUSTIN, Texas — Junior point guard Sug Sutton scored a game-high 18 points and junior forward Joyner Holmes added 15 as No. 12 Texas defeated Kansas, 62-43, on Wednesday at the Frank Erwin Center.
The Longhorns (16-3, 6-1 Big 12 Conference) led by as many as 23 points in the game and won by its largest margin (19) in a Big 12 Conference game this season.
Sutton's game-high 18 points came on 5-for-7 shooting from the field and an 8-for-9 clip from the free-throw line. She added six rebounds in 32 minutes of play.
Holmes just missed a double-double with a game-high eight rebounds to complement her 15 points and two steals. Senior forward Jatarie White totaled 10 points and five boards.
Texas shot 50 percent (24-of-48) from the field in the game, marking the fifth time this season that the Longhorns have shot 50 percent or better from the floor. Texas out-rebounded Kansas (11-6, 1-5 Big 12), 42-36, and accumulated 10 second-chance points.
The Longhorns led from start to finish in the game and dominated the Jayhawks 45-26 in the paint.
Kansas was led by 11 points from Mariane De Carvalho and 10 from Austin Richardson.
