Ehlinger, Duvernay named Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award semifinalists

It is the second-straight year Ehlinger has been a semifinalist, and the first time Duvernay has done so.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Football quarterback Sam Ehlinger and wide receiver Devin Duvernay were both named semifinalists for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, it was announced Thursday. The award, which was first presented in 2013, was won by Texas' D'Onta Foreman in 2016.
The award, which is named after 1977 Heisman Trophy winner and Longhorn Legend Earl Campbell, is given annually to the top offensive player in the FBS who also exhibits enduring characteristics that define Campbell – integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity. In addition, it is limited to player who were born in the state of Texas, attended a Texas high school or attended a Texas junior college or university.
Ehlinger, an Austin, Texas native, has completed 243-of-372 passes for 2,914 yards and 27 touchdowns. He has also carried the ball 123 times for 428 yards and scored five rushing touchdowns this season. Ehlinger ranks in the top 15 nationally in points responsible for per game (6th – 19.4), total offense per game (6th – 334.2), total offense (6th - 3,342), points responsible for (7th – 194), completions per game (8th – 24.3), passing touchdowns (11th – 27), passing yards (11th – 2,914) and passing yards per game (12th – 291.4).
In 2019, Ehlinger has matched his career high with four touchdown passes against Louisiana Tech, now-No. 1 LSU, Oklahoma State and Kansas. He also threw three touchdown passes against Rice and Iowa State. He is the only quarterback in Texas history to throw four-or-more touchdowns on four occasions in a single season, and the only Longhorn to throw at least three touchdowns on six occasions in a season.
Duvernay, a Sachse, Texas native, has caught 87 passes for 1,017 yards and scored eight total touchdowns (7 rec/1 rush). He ranks No. 2 nationally, and leads all Power Five receivers, with 87 receptions and 8.7 catches per game this season. His 1,017 receiving yards place him eighth among FBS receivers. Duvernay is one of only two Power Five receivers with at least 75 receptions, 1,000 receiving yards and seven receiving TDs this season. The senior has produced six 100-yard games in 2019, tied for the most by a Power Five receiver in 2019, and tied for the third-most by a Longhorn all time. Duvernay has passed the century mark in each of his last four games, the longest streak by a Longhorn since Roy Williams set the school record with seven-straight 100-yard games across the 2002 and 2003 seasons.
Duvernay has made at least six catches in all 10 games this season, tied for the most by an FBS receiver this year. He is the fifth Power Five wide receiver since 2004 to have at least six catches in the first 10 games of the season. Three of the four went on to be first-round picks in the NFL Draft, while two later won the Biletnikoff Award, which honors college football's most outstanding receiver. Duvernay is the first Texas receiver since Kwame Cavil (1999) to have at least six catches in the first 10 games of the season. The senior also has a pair of 12-catch games in 2019, making him one of four FBS players (three Power Five) to log multiple games with 12-or-more catches this year.
