TEXAS HEAD COACH KAREN ASTON
"I want to start with our condolences to the Northwestern State family and the LSU family.
"As far as the game is concerned, I thought we had some good moments today, most definitely. You know, we needed to knock the rust off from the holidays. I did bring them back a day later than I traditionally do. Maybe there was a little bit of the rust, in particular with our older players that have played considerable minutes in non-conference play. But I thought that it was really good for everybody to be involved in this game. Like I said out on the radio, I think that the players that prepare us in practice every day, whether they be playing on the practice team or just trying to simulate what our opponent may do, need to be rewarded either verbally by me or with playing time. I thought that today was a good day to be able to do that. I thought they played really good minutes. It's a reflection of who they are and what type of preparation they do every day. But we definitely have to get to work starting tomorrow on playing a little bit better basketball than we did today, as we get ready for conference play. A little bit disappointed, I guess, in just, maybe our mental approach. I think the reflection is in the missed free throws and some missed assignments on defense. Some of it may again just be knocking the rust off so we'll get busy tomorrow and correct some of that."
