AUSTIN, Texas — Redshirt sophomore guard Andrew Jones tied his career high with 20 points while hitting a career-best 6-of-8 from three-point range to lead The University of Texas Men's Basketball team (7-1) to a 67-57 win against UAB (4-3) on Tuesday evening at the Frank Erwin Center. UT's 7-1 record is the best 8-game start in the Shaka Smart era.
Sophomore guard Courtney Ramey tallied 13 points while converting 3-of-6 from three-point range and added a team-high 5 rebounds and 4 assists, and junior forward Jericho Sims recorded 10 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Texas converted 49.0-percent (24-49) from the floor, including a 44.0-percent mark (11-25) from three-point range, during the victory. The Longhorns used a 10-0 run to build a 17-point advantage (32-15) with 6:47 left in the first half. UAB narrowed the margin to 5 points (38-33) at the 17:02 mark of the second half, but that was as close as the Blazers would get the rest of the way.
