For the second straight match, senior Colin Markes set the pace in singles by getting Texas on the board first with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Pedro Dominguez Alonso in fifth singles. He dropped the first game of the second set, but then reeled off five-straight for a 5-1 lead before finishing the match and his ninth-straight singles win.
Senior Harrison Scott bounced back from his defeat at Tulsa to take a solid 6-2, 6-4 win over Enrique Paya in fourth singles for a 3-1 Texas lead. Scott jumped out to a 3-0 lead in his first set and never looked back, but fell behind 3-1 in the second before knotting it, 3-3. It was tied, 4-4 before he put away the last two games for the win.
Junior No. 14 Yuya Ito then clinched the team victory with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Josh Howard-Tripp in second singles that marked his 12th-straight singles win.
