The University of Texas Track and Field program broke two school records to highlight several strong performances on Friday between the Husky Classic in Seattle and the Texas Tech Shootout in Lubbock. Sophomore Sam Worley ran 3:57.98 to break his own school record in the mile while senior Alex Rogers ran 7:51.11 to shatter the school record in the 3000m by nearly five full seconds. In addition, freshman Jonathan Jones ran the No. 2 400m time in the world on Friday with a 45.38.
SCHOOL RECORDS
• Sam Worley broke his own school record by becoming the first Longhorn to break 3:58 in the mile. Worley ran a 3:57.98 to win the Husky Classic and vault to the NCAA's No. 1 spot. Worley's mark is the third time this season a Longhorn has gone sub-4 minutes in the mile, a new school record for most times in one season. Rogers has previously done so twice this season.
• Alex Rogers broke the 3000m school record by nearly five full seconds, running a 7:51.11 for the No. 5 spot in the NCAA so far this season.
MEET EVENT WINNERS
• True freshman Jonathan Jones won the 400m with a 45.38. It was the No. 2 time in the world and NCAA this season, a Barbados Indoor National record, the No. 2 time in school history, a meet record and a facility record.
• Another true freshman Kynnedy Flannel edged out teammate Teahna Daniels in the 60m to take home a victory. Flannel won with a 7.292 while Daniels was second with a 7.296.
• John Burt won the 60m hurdles for the second straight weekend, running away from the competition with a 7.85. He was first in prelims with a 7.82.
OTHER NOTABLES
• Gabby Crank ran 2:05.16 in the 800m to post the No. 3 time in school history in the event.
• Mariam Abdul-Rashid was the top collegiate finisher in the 60m hurdles, finishing in 8.24. She was just behind Longhorn-turned-Pro Pedrya Seymour, who won the event with an 8.13.
PERSONAL BESTS
• A total of 12 Longhorns posted personal bests on Friday. In addition to Worley (mile), Rogers (3000m) and Jones (400m), these other Horns posted career bests: Charles Mills (mile), Sophia Falco (triple jump), Serenity Douglas (400m), Sanique Walker (400m), Megan Rourke (400m), Terry Brown, Jr. (400m), Sean Prendeville (1000m), Jordan Welborn (1000m) and Samantha Shulhan (1000m).
UP NEXT
The Longhorns will be back in action on Saturday at the Texas Tech Shootout in Lubbock. Action begins Saturday morning with the first Horns competing at noon CT.

Sam Worley on mile school record: "It's exciting as things are starting to click just before championship season. To have a national mark down takes a lot of pressure off. Now the focus is about winning races and chasing team titles."
Alex Rogers on 3000m school record: "This is something special. It's been a long time coming and things are falling into place at the right time. Coach Watson has us working at full capacity and all the guys are having fun and running fast. There is more to come."
