AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Texas men's divers qualified a Zone 'D' leading three divers for the 2019 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in the 1-meter event.
Grayson Campbell, who took home the Big 12 title on 1-meter last week, led the Longhorns with a third-place finish and 761.25 points. Campbell moved up a spot during the finals after sitting in fourth following the first six rounds, throwing his best dive of the session on his first attempt with an inward 2.5 somersault tuck for 69.75 points. Campbell has now qualified for the NCAA Championships all three seasons at Texas, including a career-best eighth-place finish on one-meter (387.45) at last year's championships.
Sophomore Jordan Windle followed Campbell in fourth with 724.45 points. The sophomore climbed two spots over the finals session with the help of a forward 3.5 somersault tuck (69.00 points) on his fourth dive. Windle placed fifth at last year's NCAA Championships in his rookie season.
Jake Cornish will be back at the NCAA Championships for the second time in three years with his top-eight finish. Cornish grabbed 10th-place last year at the 2018 NCAA Championships.
The Longhorn divers will be back at the well tomorrow, looking to qualify on 3-meter with action starting at 11 a.m. CT.
