Three men’s divers qualify for NCAA Championships on second springboard event at Zone “D” meet

Windle, Campbell and Cornish earn top-11 finishes to qualify on both springboards
AUSTIN, Texas – Three University of Texas men's divers qualified on 3-meter at the Zone "D" diving meet inside of the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on Tuesday. Jordan Windle, Grayson Campbell and Jacob Cornish grabbed spots in the top-11 to advance to the NCAA Championships. All three already punched their tickets to the championships after their showings on 1-meter yesterday.
Sophomore Jordan Windle won the event with 877.00 points overall. Windle threw his best dive of the finals session in the third round, recording 84.00 points with a reverse 3.5 somersault tuck. The sophomore also threw a pair of dives that earned 77.50 and above to take the event. In his first championships last season, Windle took fifth-place on 3-meter with 441.70 points.
Junior Grayson Campbell, the reigning Big 12 champion on 3-meter, picked up a fourth-place finish with an overall point total of 790.35. His top dives of the session came on his final two attempts, throwing a reverse 1.5 somersault 3.5 twist free (73.50 points) and a forward 2.5 somersault 2 twist pike (73.10 points).
Jake Cornish secured his spot at the NCAA Championships on 3-meter by grabbing a total point haul of 727.95. Cornish finished with a 60.24 point average in the finals sessions for the top-10 finish.
Cornish and Windle will be back at the well tomorrow to look for their third NCAA Championships berth on platform. Competition will begin at 10 a.m. CT on the final day of the Zone "D" diving meet.
