No. 6 Women’s Tennis wins at No. 9 Oklahoma State, 5-2

The Longhorns improve to 4-0 in Big 12 play and grab sole possession of first place in the league standings.
STILLWATER, Okla. — The No. 6 University of Texas women's tennis team posted an impressive 5-2 victory at No. 9 Oklahoma State (14-6, 5-1 Big 12) on Sunday afternoon at the Greenwood Tennis Center. With the win, the Longhorns (11-3, 4-0 Big 12) moved into sole possession of first place in the Big 12 Conference.
Texas grabbed an early 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point against an Oklahoma State lineup that featured a pair of nationally-ranked doubles teams. OSU's No. 17-ranked duo of Sofia Blanco and Catherine Gulihur registered a 6-2 victory against junior Petra Granic and freshman Tijana Spasojevic at first doubles.
UT's sophomore tandem of Fernanda Labraña and Bojana Markovic answered with a 6-4 win against Tamara Arnold and Bunyawi Thamchaiwat at the No. 3 line. Labraña and Markovic trailed 3-1 before winning five of the next six games to close out the victory.
Junior twin sisters Anna and Bianca Turati clinched the doubles point with a hard-fought 7-6 (8-6) win against the No. 68-ranked duo of Marina Guinart and Katarina Stresnakova at second doubles. With the tiebreak even at 6-6, the Turati twins won back-to-back points to secure the 8-6 victory and improved to 8-2 in dual-match doubles action this spring.
The Cowgirls opened singles play with a pair of straight-set wins to take a 2-1 advantage. No. 102 Guinart evened the match score with a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Labraña at fourth singles. Blanco followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win against No. 105 Markovic at fifth singles.
Senior Katie Poluta improved to 9-1 in dual-match singles this spring and evened the match score with a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Arnold at the No. 6 line. No. 75 Bianca Turati then gave the Longhorns a 3-2 advantage with an impressive 6-4, 6-2 victory at first singles against No. 27 Stresnakova. Turati earned her fifth straight singles win and improved to 9-3 in dual-match singles play this spring, with six of her victories coming against nationally-ranked opponents.
No. 52 Granic clinched the dual-match win for the Longhorns with a dramatic 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-2) victory against No. 117 Thamchaiwat at third singles. Granic improved to 7-1 in dual-match singles play this spring.
Moments later following the Granic clincher, No. 42 Anna Turati won her 10th consecutive singles match with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) victory against Lisa Marie Rioux at second singles. Turati moved to 11-2 in dual-match singles action this spring.
The Longhorns continue Big 12 Conference play when they host TCU on Friday, April 5. First serve for the Texas-TCU match is set for 5 p.m. Central at the Texas Tennis Center, and the match will be televised live nationally by Longhorn Network.
