Head Coach Shaka Smart Post-Game Press Conference Quotes
On Texas Tech's defense ….
"Yeah, a lot of credit to Texas Tech. I mean, they are one of the best, if not the best defensive team, in the country and I though tonight was one of their better defensive nights. When you put those two things together, and I guess the third thing being the good shots that we did create we didn't make enough of them. That is what led to a 20-point margin."
On difficult time getting open looks for Jase Febres…
"We knew that Tech was going to be real lock in on him. I mean the guy made 15 threes' in his last two games. I guess 20 in his last three coming in to tonight, so we knew that that would be a big part in their game plan and they did a really nice job. We did try to do a few things to try to get him loose, but they defended it well. Maybe one of his threes' that he did get up was good quality shot. The other one's he was forcing. He kind of had to because we didn't have a lot of things going on offense."
On Matt Coleman III's shots…
"There were a few forces that were bad shots, but then there were four or five that he missed that were pretty good shots for him. It certainly wasn't his night and it wasn't our night. Tech had everything to do with that. They deserve a ton of credit. They defended like a team that is desperate to win the Big 12. They played like a team that really wanted to win on senior night and for those seniors. I thought that led to them being aggressive on offense too."
On playing and winning Saturday against TCU…
"It is a big game for us. This time of year with where our team is in terms of post season, and finishing the year the right way. Saturday will be our senior day. Tech had theirs tonight and they experienced the way a senior night should be experienced. We need to make sure of it that Dylan (Osetkowski) does as well."
