Women's Basketball's Taylor named to USA U19 World Cup Team

The 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup will be held July 20-28 in Bangkok, Thailand.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Incoming Texas freshman Celeste Taylor is one of 12 players who have been selected to the United States team for the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup, it was announced Sunday. The team was finalized following six trials sessions over four days featuring 30 athletes at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., this weekend.
The 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup will be held July 20-28 in Bangkok, Thailand, where the USA will attempt to capture an eighth gold medal.
The U.S. team will return to Colorado Springs to train July 5-10 before traveling to Tokyo, Japan, where the squad will practice and scrimmage against the Japan U19 National Team July 13-15. The USA has an additional three days of training and a pair of scrimmages in Bangkok against Argentina and Germany, July 17-19, before the 13th edition of the FIBA U19 World Cup tips off July 20.
Taylor was part of the 2018 USA U17 World Cup Team that captured the FIBA U17 World Cup gold medal with a 7-0 record in Belarus. She averaged 6.1 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per game.
Taylor is a 5-foot-11 guard from Long Island Lutheran High School. She was the 2018-19 Gatorade New York Girls Basketball Player of the Year. She was also a McDonald's All-American and participated in the Jordan Brand Classic.
