The Longhorns are ranked in the final AP Top 25 in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2008-09.
AUSTIN, Texas – Following a 38-10 win over No. 11 Utah in the Valero Alamo Bowl, the Texas Football program concluded its 2019 season ranked No. 25 in the Associated Press Top 25. It is the first time that the Longhorns have been ranked in the final AP Top 25 in consecutive seasons since 2008-09. UT finished the 2018 season at No. 9.
The Longhorns' 28-point victory over the Utes in this year's Alamo Bowl was the second-largest margin of victory over a Power Five team during the 2019 bowl season. Only No. 1 LSU's 35-point win over No. 4 Oklahoma (63-28) in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl (College Football Playoff semifinal) was larger.
Texas finished the 2019 season with an 8-5 record, its third-straight winning season under head coach Tom Herman. It is the first time that the Longhorns have strung together three consecutive winning campaigns since 2011-13. UT's Alamo Bowl victory was also its third-straight bowl win under Herman, the first time the Horns have achieved that feat since winning five straight bowl games from 2004-08.
