AUSTIN, Texas — Junior forward Jericho Sims posted a career-high 20 points, but The University of Texas Men's Basketball team (12-5, 2-3 Big 12) fell 66-57 to No. 6/7 Kansas (14-3, 4-1 Big 12) on Saturday afternoon at the Frank Erwin Center. Tied at 54-54 after a Sims dunk with 4:50 remaining, the Jayhawks outscored the Longhorns 12-3 to close out the contest.
Sims hit a career-best 9-of-14 field goals and added 6 rebounds and 2 blocked shots in 33 minutes. Junior guard Matt Coleman III contributed 10 points and 3 assists in 29 minutes.
Trailing 17-13 at the 11:38 mark, the Longhorns held Kansas scoreless for a stretch of 6:37 while building a 21-17 lead. Texas increased its advantage to as much as 8 points (30-22) after a Sims put-back at the 1:39 mark, before taking a 31-26 advantage into halftime.
