WACO, Texas — Junior forward Jericho Sims posted a double-double with a season-high 13 points and tied a career high with 15 rebounds, but The University of Texas Men's Basketball team (10-3, 0-1 Big 12) fell 59-44 at No. 6/4 Baylor (11-1, 1-0 Big 12) on Saturday night at the Ferrell Center. Texas was limited to a season-low 44 points while converting just 3-of-16 (.188) from the three-point line and 5-of-15 (.333) from the free throw line.
Sims recorded a double-double for the second consecutive game, after he tallied 12 points and 11 boards in Monday's win against High Point. Sophomore guard Courtney Ramey was the only other Longhorn to reach double digits in scoring with 11 points.
The Texas defense limited Baylor to 31.3% FG shooting (20-64), including a 5-of-17 (.294) mark from three-point range. In the second half, the Longhorns held the Bears to 23 points on 22.6% FG shooting (7-31), including an 0-of-4 mark from beyond the arc. Baylor posted a +13 rebound margin (48-35) and a 21-5 advantage in second-chance points.
