The Longhorns claimed wins in 13 of 16 events on Friday in dual-meet opener.
AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 1 University of Texas Men's Swimming and Diving team posted a dominant 178-111 victory against No. 7 Texas A&M on Friday evening at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in the dual-meet opener for both teams. The Longhorns won 13 of the 16 events during the dual-meet opener for both teams.
Sophomore Caspar Corbeau claimed victories in the 100-yard breaststroke (54.37) and the 200-yard breaststroke (1:58.04), while junior Drew Kibler earned wins in the 100-yard freestyle (43.83) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:34.90). Senior Jordan Windle swept the 1-meter (438.15 points) and 3-meter (456.90) diving events.
Senior JohnThomas Larson (1,000-yard freestyle), senior Sam Pomajevich (200-yard butterfly), junior Daniel Krueger (50-yard freestyle), freshman Coby Carrozza (500-yard freestyle) and senior Alvin Jiang (100-yard butterfly) also added individual victories. The Longhorns swept the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay.
Meet Highlights
- The Longhorns opened the meet by taking the top four spots in the 1-meter diving. Senior Jordan Windle dominated the competition with a score of 438.15 points. Freshman Noah Duperre (350.10), sophomore Andrew Harness (333.60) and freshman Brendan McCourt (307.65) placed second, third and fourth, respectively.
- The quartet of senior Chris Staka, junior Charles Scheinfeld, senior Alvin Jiang and junior Daniel Krueger opened the swimming events with a win in the 200-yard medley relay (1:26.83).
- The Longhorns swept the top three spots in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Senior JohnThomas Larson claimed the victory (9:09.77), while senior Parker Neri took second (9:14.95) and senior Alex Zettle placed third (9:22.28).
- Junior Drew Kibler earned the win in the 200-yard freestyle (1:34.90), while freshman Carson Foster placed second (1:36.53).
- Senior Alvin Jiang took second in the 100-yard backstroke (47.53), and senior Austin Katz placed third (48.94).
- Sophomore Caspar Corbeau claimed the victory in the 100-yard breaststroke (54.37), while junior Charles Scheinfeld took second (54.73).
- Texas swept the top four spots in the 200-yard butterfly. Senior Sam Pomajevich earned the win (1:46.60) and was followed closely by junior Andrew Koustik (1:47.00), sophomore Jake Foster (1:47.07) and freshman Coby Carrozza (1:47.64).
- Junior Daniel Krueger earned the win in the 50-yard freestyle (19.73).
- Junior Drew Kibler claimed the victory in the 100-yard freestyle (43.83), and senior Jake Sannem placed second (45.44).
- Freshman Carson Foster placed second in the 200-yard backstroke (1:45.14), while senior Austin Katz finished third (1:46.86).
- Sophomore Caspar Corbeau earned the win in the 200-yard breaststroke (1:58.04).
- Texas swept the top three spots in the 500-yard freestyle. Freshman Coby Carrozza claimed the victory (4:22.79) and was followed by senior JohnThomas Larson (4:28.13) and senior Alex Zettle (4:29.26).
- Senior Alvin Jiang posted the fastest time in the 100-yard butterfly (47.79) and was followed by senior Sam Pomajevich (48.16).
- Texas took the top four spots in the 3-meter diving competition. Senior Jordan Windle claimed the win with 456.90 points and was followed by sophomore Andrew Harness (410.18), freshman Noah Duperre (404.48) and freshman Brendan McCourt (342.68).
- Freshman Carson Foster posted the second-fastest time in the 200-yard individual medley (1:47.61) and was followed by sophomore Jake Foster (1:49.06).
- The quartet of junior Daniel Krueger, senior Jake Sannem, freshman Coby Carrozza and junior Drew Kibler swam the fastest-time in the 400-yard freestyle relay (2:55.24).
The Longhorns return to action on Nov. 12-14 (Thursday-Saturday) at the Toyota U.S. Open in San Antonio, Texas.
