Collins will join the Longhorns as a freshman for the 2021 spring dual-match season.
AUSTIN, Texas — Kylie Collins (Savannah, Ga.) has signed an Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA) to play tennis at The University of Texas, head coach Howard Joffe announced Wednesday. Collins plans to enroll at UT in the spring 2021 semester and will be eligible as a freshman for the 2021 dual-match season.
"Kylie Collins' name has been synonymous with excellence in national and international junior tennis competition for several years," Joffe said. "Her inclusion in our program makes Tennis Women's Tennis appreciably better immediately."
"During the course of her recruitment, I've come to learn that Kylie is resourced in so many other exceptional ways," Joffe continued. "For all these reasons, I cannot thank her, her parents and her coach Evan enough for trusting Texas and our coaching staff with her development. I intend to work diligently with Kylie to advance all of her skills and serve her to actualize her dreams in tennis and beyond."
Collins has a current UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) of 10.88. The UTR is a global tennis player rating system intended to produce an objective, consistent and accurate index of players' skill in the game of tennis.
Collins achieved a career-high ITF (International Tennis Federation) junior singles ranking of No. 71 (Dec. 31, 2018). She also holds career-high WTA (Women's Tennis Association) rankings of No. 990 in singles (Feb. 17, 2020) and No. 632 in doubles (March 2, 2020).
At age 14, Collins won the 16-and-under doubles championship at the prestigious Orange Bowl junior tournament in December 2017.
"The University of Texas will help me reach my goals on the court and in the classroom," Collins said. "Texas offers an exceptional program with great coaches and solid resources. I look forward to being a part of the Longhorn family."
