No. 2 Women’s Swimming sweeps pair of relays on night one at Hall of Fame Invite

The Longhorns claimed wins in the 200-yard medley relay and 800-yard free relay on Wednesday.
AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 2 University of Texas Women's Swimming team swept a pair of relays on Wednesday evening during the first night of the Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invitational at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. The Longhorns earned wins in the 200-yard medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay.
Texas opened the night by claiming the top three spots in the 200-yard medley relay. The Texas 'A' squad of junior Julia Cook, freshman Anna Elendt, freshman Olivia Bray and sophomore Bridget Semenuk won the event with a NCAA 'A' cut time of 1:35.78. The quartet of sophomore Miranda Heckman, junior Holly Jansen, freshman Emma Sticklen and freshman Grace Cooper placed second (1:38.62), while the lineup of freshman Sydney Silver, freshman Ellie McLeod, senior Emily Reese and freshman Ava Longi took third (1:41.64).
The Longhorns concluded action Wednesday with a 1-2 finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay. The Texas 'B' squad of senior Evie Pfeifer, Cook, sophomore Kyla Leibel and Heckman won the event in a NCAA 'B' cut time of 7:01.69. The quartet of sophomore Kelly Pash, Bray, Semenuk and sophomore Mary Smutny took second in a NCAA 'B' cut time of 7:04.95.
The Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invitational continues on Thursday, Dec. 3 with prelims at 10 a.m. CT and finals at 6 p.m. CT. Due to health and safety protocols, the meet is closed to the public.
