AMES, Iowa — Sophomore guard Courtney Ramey recorded a career-high 21 points, but The University of Texas Men's Basketball team (14-11, 4-8 Big 12) dropped an 81-52 decision at Iowa State (11-14, 4-8 Big 12) on Saturday afternoon at Hilton Coliseum. Ramey converted a career-high 7-of-8 free throws and 2-of-3 three-pointers while adding 6 rebounds and 2 steals in 36 minutes.
Freshman center Will Baker pulled down a career-high 7 rebounds while playing a career-best 16 minutes. Redshirt freshman forward Brock Cunningham scored his first collegiate basket and saw a career-high 15 minutes of action.
Iowa State converted 57.1-percent (28-49) from the field on the afternoon, the highest percentage by a UT opponent this season. The Cyclones led by as much as 17 points (34-17) in the first half, but the Longhorns used a 9-3 run over the final 4:16 to trim the margin to 37-26 at the break.
Iowa State opened the second half by scoring nine-consecutive points to build the lead to 46-26 at the 16:47 mark. UT did not get closer than 18 points for the remainder of the contest.
