Taylor averaged 24.5 points per game last week in wins against No. 25 TCU and Oklahoma.
Freshman Texas guard Celeste Taylor has been named the Big 12 Co-Player of the Week and the Big 12 Freshman of the Week for her standout performances in the Longhorns' wins against No. 25 TCU and Oklahoma this past week, the league office in Irving, Texas, announced Monday.
Taylor shares the Big 12 Player of the Week honor with Baylor's Lauren Cox. It is Taylor's first Big 12 Player of the Week selection and her third Big 12 Freshman of the Week accolade.
Taylor led the Longhorns this week with 24.5 points per game, a field-goal percentage of 60.7, eight three-pointers made and 36.5 minutes per game. She became the first Texas player this season to record back-to-back 20-plus-point games.
Taylor charted her first career double-double in the road win at No. 25 TCU on Wednesday, scoring a then-career-high 22 points, a career-high-tying 10 rebounds and a career-high four three-pointers. In Saturday's victory against Oklahoma, she registered a career-high 27 points with four three-pointers.
Taylor and the Longhorns return to action on Thursday when they travel to Waco, Texas, to take on No. 2/2 Baylor. Tip-off in the Ferrell Center is slated for 7:30 p.m. CT and the game will be nationally televised by FS1.
