Four Texas women's basketball players have been named to All-Big 12 Conference teams in recognition of their standout performances during the 2019-20 season. It was announced Monday as part of the Phillips 66 All-Big 12 Conference Women's Basketball Awards.
Sophomore center Charli Collier was named a First-Team All-Big 12 Conference selection, while senior point guard Sug Sutton was named to the All-Big 12 Conference Second Team. Senior forward Joyner Holmes was an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 selection, while Celeste Taylor was a unanimous selection to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team.
Collier, a 6-foot-5 center from Mont Belvieu, Texas, has had a breakout sophomore campaign. Her 314 rebounds on the season are third-most by a sophomore in program history. She has scored in double figures 22 times this year. She also leads her team in blocks per game [1.3] and is second in three-pointers made [28]. In addition, she leads her team in steals per game [1.8] and minutes per game [29.9]. Sutton has scored in double figures on 16 occasions this year and has five or more assists in 10 games. It is Sutton's second All-Big 12 honor after earning first-team accolades a year ago.
Holmes, a 6-foot-3 forward from Cedar Hill, Texas, has started 28 games this season. She is tied for the team lead in scoring [13.1 points per game] and is second in rebounding [8.7 rebounds per game]. Holmes ranks 25th nationally with 14 double-doubles on the year and she's scored in double figures on 20 occasions. She has made a team-best 397 field goals on the year and is second on her team in blocks per game [1.0] and assists per game [2.0]. It is Holmes' third career appearance on an All-Big 12 team after earning first-team honors in 2016 and honorable mention accolades last season.
Taylor, a 5-foot-11 guard from Valley Stream, N.Y., has started 26 games this season and is a three-time Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Week selection.
