Texas Ex Walling selected to TGCA Hall of Fame

Walling was a highly successful head coach at Pflugerville High School for 25 years.
Former University of Texas women's basketball player Nancy Walling [1979-83] has been selected for induction into the Texas Girls Coaches Association [TGCA] Hall of Fame, it was announced Monday.
Walling, a Canyon, Texas, native, spent 25 years as the head girls basketball coach at Pflugerville High School. She led the Lady Panthers to 18 state playoff berths, including four appearances in the State Tournament Final Four. At Pflugerville, Walling compiled a record of 647-255 [.717]. In 2019-20, she finished third nationally in voting for WBCA National Coach of the Year honors. Walling also served as the athletic coordinator at Pflugerville High School.
Among Walling's pupils at Pflugerville was former Longhorns great Nneka Enemkpali, who was selected by the Seattle Storm in the 2015 WNBA Draft and is currently an assistant basketball coach at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
Prior to her decorated career at Pflugerville, Walling served as head coach at Belton High School for two seasons.
Away from the basketball court, Walling, who celebrated her birthday on Monday, was named Pflugerville High School's Humanitarian of the Year in 2011-12 for her commitment to excellence, community service and outreach.
Walling won two state championships as a player at Canyon High School before attending the University of Texas, where she played in 106 career games with 21 starts.
Since her retirement from Pflugerville, Walling has served as a color commentator for University of Texas and University Interscholastic League [UIL] basketball games on radio and television.
Walling's 2020 induction class also includes Laneigh Clark [Pearland High School, softball coach] and Lee Grishman [Wimberly High School, retired volleyball coach].
