The Longhorns also landed six student-athletes on the CRCA 2020 Scholar Athlete Award list.
AUSTIN, Texas – The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced this week the nominations of Texas seniors Milica Slijepcevic, Alexandra Watson and coxswain Maisie Sajbel, junior Katelyn Bouthillette and sophomore Kaitlin Knifton to 2020 Division I Pocock All-America honors.
Slijepcevic (Novi Sad, Serbia) was named a CRCA first-team All-American and the Big 12 Rower of the Year in 2019 and is a two-time All-Big 12 honoree (2018, 2019). Watson (Leicester, Great Britain) is a finalist for the 2020 Honda Inspiration Award and was a 2019 All-Big 12 selection.
Bouthillette, a native The Woodlands Texas, Austin natives Knifton and Sajbel, and Watson were each recognized by the CRCA for the first time.
The absence of competitive results or a national championship due to the COVID-19 pandemic preclude awarding 1st and 2nd Team All-America Awards for the 2020 season. However, the coaches of the CRCA still wanted to find a way to recognize the top performers in NCAA women's rowing.
For 2020, Division I and II coaches could nominate up to four student-athletes and one coxswain, and Division III coaches up to two rowers and one coxswain.
Additionally, the Longhorns placed six student-athletes on the CRCA 2020 Scholar Athlete Award list. Bouthillette (Applied Movement Science), Knifton (Marketing), Sajbel (Human Development and Family Sciences), senior Aine McGinn (Plan II Honors), and juniors Mick Jonkers (Sociology) and Kenza McKerrihan (Human Dimensions of Organizations) were each recognized for their accomplishments in the classroom.
This season's CRCA Scholar-Athlete Award requirements have been modified. Student-athletes must be in their second, third or fourth years of eligibility and must be ranked (performance-wise) among the top 50 percent of their team or in the "NCAA squad." In addition, these student-athletes must have compiled a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA during their career.
