Gaston records game-high 19 points, Lattimore posts first-career double-double
AUSTIN, Texas — Sophomore DeYona Gaston registered a game-high 19 points and freshman Latasha Lattimore notched her first-career double-double to help lead No.11/12 Texas to an 83-43 victory over Idaho Saturday afternoon inside the Frank Erwin Center.
The Longhorns improve to 7-1 on the season with the win. Idaho falls to 1-7.
Gaston, who's 19 points matched her career-best, finished 9-of-12 from the floor while adding seven rebounds and a pair of steals. Lattimore, a Toronto native, finished with a season-high 12 points and 10 boards to complete her double-double performance.
Freshman point guard Rori Harmon posted 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting and finished just one rebound shy of a double-double as she brought down a season-high nine boards on the day.
After missing the past five games due to injury, freshman Kyndall Hunter made her return to the lineup on Saturday. She logged 20 minutes while finishing with 11 points, three assists and two steals.
Texas finished the game shooting 45.3 percent (34-of-75) from the floor and shot 64.7 percent (11-of-17) from the charity stripe.
The Longhorns held a 47-37 advantage on the glass and won the turnover battle, 32-18.
Idaho was led offensively by Tiana Johnson who finished with 12 points. Beyonce Bea posted nine points and a team-high 12 rebounds.
The Vandals shot 30.0 percent (17-of-55) from the field and 21.4 percent (6-of-24) from behind the arc in the game.
UT is back in action on Sunday, Dec.19, as they travel to Las Vegas for the PAC-12 Coast-to-Coast Challenge at T-Mobile Arena. Texas is set to square off with defending national runner-up and No.6/10 Arizona. Tip is slated for 4:30 p.m. CT and will air nationally on ESPN.
