No. 2 Women’s Tennis sweeps No. 42 Iowa State, 7-0

The Longhorns move to 12-1 in dual-match play and 2-0 in Big 12 Conference action.
AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 2 University of Texas women's tennis team recorded a 7-0 sweep against No. 42 Iowa State (8-4, 0-2 Big 12) on Sunday afternoon indoors at the Edgar O. and Melanie A. Weller Tennis Center. The Longhorns improved to 12-1 in dual-match play, including a 2-0 start to Big 12 Conference play, and earned their sixth victory of the season against a ranked opponent.
Texas jumped out to a 1-0 lead by claiming the doubles point for the 12th time in its first 13 dual matches. The freshman duo of Charlotte Chavatipon and Peyton Stearns posted a 6-1 victory on court 3 against Maty Cancini and Ting-Pei Chang. Chavatipon and Stearns moved to 7-1 in dual-match doubles play this spring.
The No. 48-ranked duo of seniors Fernanda Labraña and Anna Turati clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win on court 2 over Christin Hsieh and Sofia Cabezas. Labraña and Turati improved to 9-1 in dual-match action this year.
The Longhorns closed out the afternoon by taking all six singles matches in straight sets. No. 5-ranked Turati was first to finish line with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory on court 2 against Cancini, and freshman Kylie Collins followed by posting a 6-1, 6-2 win on court 5 over Chie Kezuka. No. 66-ranked Stearns clinched the dual-match victory for the Longhorns with a 6-1, 6-4 victory on court 1 against Thasaporn Naklo.
Labraña recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win on court 6 over Cabezas and improved to 12-2 overall in singles play this year. No. 94-ranked freshman Lulu Sun registered a 6-3, 6-2 victory on court 3 against Hsieh, and No. 125-ranked Chavatipon concluded the action with a 6-4, 6-2 win on court 4 over Mista Kadleckova. Chavatipon moved to 15-1 overall in singles, including a 12-1 record in dual-match play.
UT returns to action when it hosts No. 22 Oklahoma State in a Big 12 Conference match on Friday, March 19. First serve is set for 11 a.m. Central at the Texas Tennis Center, and the contest will be televised live by Longhorn Network.
