LSU had a number of impressive individual performances throughout the Texas Relays, as well as strong showings in relay competition. The Tigers topped the podium in the women's 4x100-meter relay and finished third in the 4x400-meter races, while finishing second in both competitions on the men's side. Laird, a Coatseville, Pa. native, clocked a 19.81 (+0.8) to win the men's 200-meter dash. His time was the third-fastest in NCAA history and second-fastest on LSU record.
Texas' Tara Davis earned the women's individual honor after a collegiate-record showing in the long jump on Friday. Davis shattered Jackie Joyner-Kersee's 36-year-old mark by flying. 7.14m/23-5.25 – the fifth-best effort by an American all-time. It was the second collegiate record in as many weeks for the Agoura Hills, Calif. native as she claimed the indoor long jump collegiate record with a 6.93m/22-9 effort at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 12 in Fayetteville, Ark.
Starting off relays competition on the track Saturday was the traditional Clyde Littlefield Men's 4x100-meter Relay. There, a heated race between LSU and Houston was won by the Cougars with a time of 38.49. The top-four finishers in the race all broke the 39-second mark.

The Sanya Richards-Ross (women's) and Cleburne Price Jr. (men's) 4x400-meter Relays closed out the Texas Relays with Arkansas and North Carolina A&T claiming victory, respectively. The Razorbacks clocked a 3:26.33 to best Texas (3:28.10) as the only teams under the 3:30.00-mark. North Carolina A&T's winning time of 3:00.23 made the Aggies the 11th-fastest program in collegiate history and just shy of becoming only the eighth program in NCAA history to break the three-minute mark. LSU (3:01.00) and Texas (3:01.28) finished hot on the Aggies' tails in one of the fastest 4x400-meter relays seen in the month of March at the collegiate level.
