Campus landmark to be lit in burnt orange with the number ‘1’ on two sides and ‘15’ on two sides.
AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas Tower will be lit in burnt orange with the number '1' on the North and South sides and the number '15' on the East and West sides later tonight (Sunday, March 28) to commemorate the UT Men's Swimming and Diving program's recent NCAA championship.
Per campus tradition, the University recognizes UT sports programs who win a national team championship with a burnt orange lighting of the campus landmark with the number '1' appearing on the building's four sides. Tonight, the University will salute the team which captured the 2021 national championship and the program's 15th overall NCAA title.
The Longhorns won the 2021 NCAA Championship on Saturday night in Greensboro, N.C. with a four-day meet total of 595 points. The point total marked the second-highest team total in program history, just shy of the record 597.5 points earned by the 2001 NCAA title squad.
The University of Texas captured the 56th national team championship (52 NCAA titles) in school history and first since Men's Tennis won the 2019 title.
