FORT WORTH, Texas — Redshirt junior guard Andrew Jones paced five Longhorns in double-figure scoring with a team-high 16 points to lead No. 15/16 Texas (17-7, 11-6 Big 12) to a 76-64 win at TCU (12-13, 5-11 Big 12) on Saturday night at Schollmaier Arena. With the victory, the Longhorns claimed the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship in Kansas City.

Junior guard Courtney Ramey posted 11 of his 13 points in the second half and registered six assists, five rebounds and three steals in 33 minutes. Tied at 11-11 with 14:39 remaining in the opening half, Texas ran off six consecutive points to take a 17-11 advantage on a Sims dunk at the 11:52 mark. After a Greg Brown layup gave UT a 23-16 cushion with 6:53 remaining, the Horned Frogs used a 9-2 run over the next two-and-a-half minutes to tie the score at 25-25 following a Mike Miles three-pointer at the 4:19 mark.
The Longhorns answered with an 8-2 spurt in the next two minutes, highlighted by a pair of Jase Febres three-pointers, to grab a 33-27 advantage and took a 33-29 into the break.
After a P.J. Fuller layup trimmed the deficit to 39-34 with 17:56 left, Ramey knocked down a trio of three-pointers to key an 18-9 run over the next seven minutes and build a 57-43 advantage following an Andrew Jones three-pointer at the 10:43 mark.
The Horned Frogs pulled to within eight points on two occasions, but that would be as close as they could get the rest of the way. A Coleman three-pointer gave the Longhorns a 65-53 cushion with 6:19 remaining, and the lead stayed in double digits for the rest of the night.
The Longhorns open postseason play on Thursday, March 11 against No. 18/18 Texas Tech in the quarterfinals of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship. Tip is set for 8:30 p.m. Central at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, and the game will be televised nationally by ESPN or ESPN2.
