Men’s Tennis closes play at Southern Intercollegiates

The Longhorns added one singles and one doubles victory against players from Ohio State on the final day.
Athens, Ga. – Men's Tennis added one singles and one doubles victory in individual play against members of Ohio State on the final day at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga., on Sunday.
Sophomore No. 17 Micah Braswell closed out the day with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 win over Justin Boulais in singles, while in doubles, sophomore Siem Woldeab and junior Nevin Arimilli paired for an 8-4 win over Matej Vocel and JJ Tracy. Sophomore Eshan Talluri added a mixed-team 8-6 win with Lancelot Carnello of Ohio State over Danny Flynn and Samuel Macleod of Mercer.
Arimilli went three sets in his singles match against Robert Cash, but came up just short in a superbreaker, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 1-0 (3), while Woldeab fell to No. 20 Matej Vocel, 6-3, 6-3, sophomore Evin McDonald was downed by No. 99 JJ Tracy by the same score, and Talluri faced his doubles partner from earlier in the day in Carnello, but dropped his match 6-4, 6-4. In the remaining doubles match, Braswell and McDonald combined and took Boulais and Cash to a tiebreaker, but fell, 8-7 (2).
The Longhorns will next compete in the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., from October 2-9.
