Men’s Tennis’ Spizzirri advances to quarterfinals of ITA National Fall Championships

Junior Eliot Spizzirri moved on in the singles main draw on Thursday.
San Diego – Texas Men's Tennis junior Eliot Spizzirri advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego on Thursday.
The fourth-seeded No. 35 Spizzirri posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Kristof Minarik of Wichita State to move on and will next face 5-8 seed No. 65 Jacob Fearnley of TCU at 10 a.m. PT/12 p.m. CT on Friday.
In doubles, the top seed No. 16 duo of Spizzirri and junior Cleeve Harper were edged in both a first-set tiebreaker and third-set superbreaker to fall to No. 20 Edoardo Graziani and Kevin Zhu of Penn, 7-6 (5), 3-6, 1-0 (13). The Longhorns had match points at 9-7 in the superbreaker before the Quakers rallied.
